The Whole Gamut Acoustic Music Club is located at the Brunswick Hotel on the corner of Sydney Road and Weston Street Brunswick, Victoria from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the second Sunday afternoon of each month.
We cater to all forms of acoustic music ranging from voice, guitar and all types of acoustic instrumental performers. (Fire-eaters and jugglers need not apply.)
A professional P.A. system and sound engineer is available.
Peter Pentland and Peter Russo are the club organisers.
Musicians who wish to perform should contact Peter Pentland by phone on 03 9392 4817 (B), 03 9386 1483 (AH) or via email on email@example.com to be considered for inclusion.
Those interested in being on our email list and who wish to be advised of future dates and performance details should send their email details to Peter Pentland here.
A silent donation of $5 (or a gold coin from the concessions) to pay for our musicians is requested. This assists in defraying costs of performers and other associated expenses of the Club.
For those who came in late…
Peter Pentland and Peter Russo established the Whole Gamut in 2003.
Peter Pentland has been involved with folk and acoustic music since last Century, having been a former President of the Melbourne University Folk Club.
He was also a songwriter and performer of some notoriety in the '70's after having composed his meisterwerk, My Beaut Little Fergie Tractor, an ode to the Massey Ferguson Tractor. The Fergie Tractor is still the staple piece of farm equipment on every Australian Farm.
The song is a paean to a red-necked yokel's abiding and passionate love for his tractor.
Apparently laws have since been passed outlawing this practice, but it should be remembered, these were the 1970's.
The song also features on Peter P's album entitled, for some curious reason, My Beaut Little Fergie Tractor. Peter P's album of comedic songs with an agricultural bent has been re-released and updated for the noughties and is currently available for purchase. Downloads and lyrics also appear on the website.
Peter Russo was a singer/songwriter on the Melbourne acoustic scene from the same era and knew Peter P from this time. He well remembers Peter P's comment, "They laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian…they're not laughing now."
Peter R has maintained a healthy, some would say obsessive, interest in acoustic guitar, song writing and rock trivia to this day for which he is currently receiving treatment.
After a decade or three in Brunswick's legal wilderness he rediscovered his muse in mid life, as he was too fearful to ride Harley Davidsons or skydive.
A selection of Peter R's song lyrics will soon appear on the website and his forthcoming CD, Love, Death and Beauty should be available later in the year.
Incidentally, Peter P and Peter R, those handsome, lean and hirsute performers with the sparkling personalities of the 1970's are almost unchanged today and, we are delighted to say, have still retained their sparkling personalities.
Signed 6 x 4 glossy photos of the two Peters from the 1970's may shortly be available for purchase. Unfortunately modesty and good taste forbids the publication of more current photos.
The Whole Gamut Acoustic Music Club has gigs on the second Sunday of the month starting at 3 PM at the Brunswick Hotel, 140 Sydney Rd, Brunswick.
